On Friday the 28^th of December 2007 Dee Conroy died in a tragic kayaking accident, whilst paddling on the Gaddagh river in Kerry. Dee was a student in UCD and member of the UCD kayak club.

This accident has sent a cold shock through Ireland's paddling community; especially as it happened during the annual new year paddling get together in Kerry.
