Brief Description

Three distinct sections:
- Upper: narrow, grade 3
- Middle: flat
- Lower: grade5 cascades

River Description

Upper section narrow and overgrown and not worth paddling.

Middle section grade 2 and used by locals for training

Lower section. One big cascade. 2m vertical weir, small pool, bony rapid dropping about 5 or 6 metres at 45 degreesĀ into a rock face. small pool. narrow sluice drop feeding into a sump,undercut on left and rib of rock blocking right. small pool. 3m vertical drop. large eddy. then bony rapids to take out

Access Issues

No known issues. Hiking path with stile runs beside cascades

Water Level Information

Walk down to cascades. If the rib of rock in the narrow slot is visible, its good to go.

Directions to Put-in

Beara Peninsula: Take the R571 CastletownBearhaven to Eyeries road passes over this river. Put in is where this road meets the R575 to Allihies.

Directions to Take-out

Hike back up (easiest) or paddle out to sea and land at the beach in Eyeries
