Bullaba River

Donegal, Ulster Grade: 3 - 4 500m/2km

Brief Description
A bedrock granite shuk that needs a heavy down pour. Main section is fast and fun.
River Description

Shuk paddling at its best. One major feature that washes out at high levels but can provide a good impact injury at low levels.

Narrow at start until the river widens at a left hand beside road to bedrock granite slides etc. Have a look at the main drop at the road bend before getting on to avoid breaking a good run.

After this drop is a nice slide with a left hand wall into a right hand small drop leading to a long slide with a small roosters tail in the middle.

Continues onward levelling out but gathering water from other shuks.

Careful of bridge (mentioned at get out), this may need to be rolled under.

The main section can be run in 20mins, worth doing before heading on to the Barra.

Safety & Access
Hazards
One fall. Slow run in, in low/shallow water, bedrock forces line right into overhanging rock on right, narrow slot at bottom creates a hole. In higher levels the water allows a centre line to open up creating a line that nips past the overhanging rock with good speed.
Access Issues
No Issues. Just over excitment.
Water Level Information
Have a look at the main drop at the left hand road bend heading to get in. If its runnable don't waste anymore time looking and just get on.
